Building on the tradition and integrity of founders James Maffia and Nathan DeMichele, brothers John and Jim Maffia have taken their family values to continue that history by leveraging their experience, work ethic, and strong working relationships to our clients’ advantage. With John in the office and Jim in the field, we provide invaluable day-to-day management, on-site monitoring, and streamlined communication.

John is a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management and an Associate’s Degree in Architecture. After graduation, John worked for a local general contractor as a Project Manager for five years working on major retail projects and banks. While in this position, John quickly learned to listen to the client’s needs while maintaining his focus on the business aspect. At Adams Service Company, John was a Project Manager for three years and worked on various retail projects including Silo, Best Buy, retail and bank projects. John always has the owner/client’s best interest at heart. In his current role as President and Owner of DEJAMES Builders, Inc., John handles new strategic development for the company. He also manages the Project Operations while driving sales. John is a member of ICSC.

John MaffiaPresident

Jim, a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, began his career working with his father in construction. He later joined Schal and Associates, Inc., where he contributed to high-rise projects in downtown Chicago. Progressing to Field Superintendent at a local contractor, Jim oversaw projects for major retailers and shopping centers. In 1995, Jim partnered with John to acquire DEJAMES Builders, Inc., where he currently serves as Vice President, managing Field Operations and Marketing. Jim is certified in OSHA 10-Hour, 30-Hour, and Trench & Backfill. He is active in organizations like ICSC, the U.S. Green Building Council, and serves on the St. Viator High School Grounds Committee. Additionally, Jim is a licensed real estate broker, board member for the Boys and Girls Club, and leads his family’s foundation, Kendall’s Kindness.
